Ferguson's SC Artillery Company

                                                        The Gun

Ferguson's Artillery owns a full size replica of an early War, 2.9 inch, Ten Pounder Parrott Rifle, and its limber.  Originals fired projectiles of approximately ten pounds, using a pound of black powder as a propellant.  We fire only blank charges of black powder at reenactments.  The limber is the horse-drawn wheeled vehicle which towed the gun, and carries the limber chest in which reside the crew's equipments and the charges. The "tube" or barrel, and the wooden, wheeled carriage, comprise the "gun" or "piece."  Both the gun and the limber are brought to reenactments on a custom trailer with an electric winch to facilitate loading.                                                &
